The Rocky Mountain Travelers Club’s spring rally was held in Gardiner, Montana, at the Sun Outdoors Yellowstone North campground from June 21 – 25, 2026, with 44 coaches in attendance.
The campground sits in Gardiner, Montana, which is right at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The location put us as close to one of the greatest parks in the country as you can park a coach without being in it. It also tests your focus on the climb into and descent from the park at Mammoth Springs with the very curvy road.
Sunday
Most folks arrived and settled in on Sunday afternoon. Some coaches had great views from their sites and were parked nose-first, as shown in the picture. Registration took place at our coach, and that evening we gathered outside our coach for the first happy hour, where we said hello to old friends, met a few new ones, reviewed the agenda, and kicked off the first of three rounds of trivia. Trivia the first night was about Gardiner, Montana.
Monday
Monday was left wide open for exploring Yellowstone, and people made the most of it. Some drove out to Old Faithful. Others headed to the Lamar Valley for wildlife spotting, and a few of us had close conversations with bison who, as it turns out, had strong opinions about the right of way on a two-lane road.
That evening, we gathered for a group dinner at The Corral in Gardiner, a local staple. We had burgers, fries, and salad. After dinner, we played round 2 of trivia with Yellowstone-focused questions.
Tuesday
We started the day with breakfast burritos at 8:30 am and rolled straight into a tech talk at 9:00 am hosted by Ryan and Towney Sausville. With no dedicated gathering place at the campground, we gathered around our coach for the tech talk. We shared the slide deck via email ahead of the talk and walked attendees through LTV preventative maintenance on their own devices. Turns out you don’t need a big screen to answer questions about storage bin seal lubrication, generator maintenance, or recommended tire pressure (Towney’s favorite topic by the way). The rest of the day was left open for another day in Yellowstone.
Wednesday
This was our last full day in the area for most of us. Again, we kept it open for one more stretch of exploring before the final evening.
At 5:00 pm, we held the last trivia round focused on the United States, with some questions coming from the United States citizenship test. Afterward, we tallied scores and congratulated Mike Hartel as our overall trivia winner. Mike secured several Rocky Mountain drawstring bags for this victory. Afterward, we played several rounds of happy hour Bingo before some rain moved in. Mike was able to gather some folks around a coach for some impromptu music once the rain cleared.
Thursday
Thursday, we said our goodbyes and drove off in our homes to our homes or other destinations. Thanks to all attendees. Yellowstone was worth every mile.
Finally, we want to send a note of thanks to those of you who expressed your appreciation either in person or via email for the openness of our agenda. We knew that, with the park so large, getting anywhere would take half a day. Leaving the agenda open allowed folks to not feel rushed and spend more time in the park, so they could just go outside and stand in it.
The Rocky Mountain Travelers Club’s next rally will be at The Verde Ranch RV Resort in Camp Verde, Arizona, October 21 – 25. The campground assures us they’re putting on a Halloween extravaganza you don’t want to miss. Speaking of missing, don’t forget, you will miss 100% of the rallies you don’t attend.
