Superb South Carolina

The Carolina LTV’ers have closed out their 2025 rally season with a bang! Our third and final rally of the year had something for everyone: athletic pursuits, creative activities, safety demonstrations, a brand-new coach to view, and a special guest from Leisure Travel Vans, Josiah Wiebe.

33 LTVs and 62 attendees gathered at the beautiful Willow Tree RV Resort in Longs, South Carolina, for a weekend of friendship and fun. This rally welcomed members from other LTV Travelers Clubs: The Blue Ridge Leisures, The Texhoma Travelers, and The Leisurely Great Lakers, along with 15 new club members attending their first rally and 24 members who attended all three Carolina LTV’ers events this year. As always, we had a diverse mix of LTV models and camping experience.

We kicked off the rally with our opening session, where we asked members to share a funny RV story or a lesson learned. The entertaining stories related to a macerator mishap or a shower quagmire had us all in stitches, but the funniest by far was a case of mistaken identity. The member entered the wrong coach, which was a replica of hers. She couldn’t figure out where her husband was and who the people in her RV were. The evening wrapped up with an ice cream social, which has become a Carolina LTV’ers opening session tradition.

Several athletic events were scheduled each morning, including a round of golf and pickleball. For this rally, we hosted an intro to pickleball course that was well attended on Friday and Saturday. Special thanks to our club members who organized the golf outing, and those who provided instruction and extra pickleball racquets and balls for the class.

Back by popular demand, Treasurer Barbara Smetana led another “In the Kitchen with Barb” class, focusing on freezer meal preparation and meal planning on the road. Barb showed us how to make Cha Cha chicken chili and provided lunch to all attendees of the session. She shared recipes for easy freezer meals and handed out laminated cards on how to use the convection oven.

The Horry County Fire Department led a safety discussion on timely topics, including propane safety and e-bike battery charging. The highlight of their visit included their 45-foot safety trailer, where attendees learned how to properly use a fire extinguisher and what to do in various fire scenarios.

A new event for this rally was our cookie decorating session, which was enjoyed by all. The club provided camping-themed cookies and decorations, and the members brought their imaginations. The creativity of the group was inspiring; who knew we had so many artists among us and that they could create so many shades of gray icing to mimic the silver paint on many LTV’s.

We also hosted several educational sessions throughout the weekend and had a coach on display from Howard RV Center, which also sponsored a catered dinner. Dan Hilton from Howard RV was on hand to show off a 60th Anniversary Edition Unity Murphy Bed Lounge and answer questions about the new models.

Josiah Wiebe shared the latest and greatest from LTV Marketing and answered many questions during our very popular LTV Q&A session. These sessions always generate engaging discussions around technical topics, and it’s a great way for newcomers to have their questions answered—many thanks to the experienced LTV’ers who participate and share their knowledge with the group.

We are excited to announce that a new club leader has stepped up and will be leading our group for the next term. Jackie Drennan volunteered for the role and was officially nominated and elected at this rally.

Save the Date

Our spring rally will be April 30 – May 3, 2026. Campground details and logistics will be coming soon!

Until we meet again at the next rally or on the road, Happy travels!
