The Rocky Mountain Club’s Spring rally was held in very windy Palisade, Colorado, May 14 – 18, 2025, with over 40 coaches in attendance.
The rally was held at the Palisade Basecamp RV Resort right along the Colorado River. We met as a group most evenings in an onsite outdoor structure where we played trivia, held a tech talk, and a pitch in dinner.
Wednesday
Most people arrived and set up their sites on Wednesday afternoon. That evening, we gathered for our first happy hour, where we reviewed the agenda and played the first of three trivia games during the rally. The trivia games focused on the Palisade area, Colorado, and the United States.
Thursday
Most of the day was open for exploration of the Palisade area. A small group of folks went on a bike ride tour of the area, while others walked to downtown Palisade, visited the local wineries, or practiced their drone flying skills. Later that evening, we gathered for several rounds of bingo, which I enjoy because I tend to talk a lot, but I’ve learned to tune myself out. We also played our second round of trivia, this time about Colorado.
Friday
Friday morning, we enjoyed breakfast burritos from a local restaurant and a rousing tech talk that did not include discussions about tire pressure.
The tech talk walked attendees through the LTV preventative maintenance slide deck and answered many questions about caring for our LTVs, including how to lubricate the outside storage bin seals and recommend spare parts to carry.
That evening, we held the fan-favorite progressive happy hour van tours. Several LTVers opened their vans for tours and provided snacks and beverages for everyone. Thanks to all who participated!
Saturday
Saturday was our last full day of the rally. We left most of the day open for everyone to explore the area and visit with fellow travelers. That evening, we held a pitch-in dinner with a remarkable amount of food provided by everyone that could have fed a small army. After dinner, we played our last round of trivia, then tallied up scores to determine the overall winner. At this point, I just wanted to lie on the beach and eat hot dogs, but instead, I announced that for the second time, the winner of our trivia game was Alex Johnson. Congrats Alex!
Sunday
On Sunday, we said our goodbyes and drove off to our homes or other destinations. Thanks to all attendees, especially to Michael King for leading the bike ride. We look forward to seeing you at future rallies. Speaking of which…
The Rocky Mountain Club’s next rally will be in Salt Lake City at the Salt Lake City KOA, September 18 – 21. The weather at that time of year is supposed to be beautiful, so book your site fast. Don’t forget, you miss 100% of the rallies you don’t attend.
We look forward to seeing you at the next rally or on the road somewhere in between.
