FRVA Club members were on hand for the 113th International Convention and Pre-Rally, June 28 – July 5, and some of us had so much fun we stayed until July 7 for the FRVA Midwest Area Rally!
Five coaches from five different states braved the summer heat and high fuel prices to arrive at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri. We had full hookups and priority parking right next to the arrival welcome station, so every attendee drove past our group of LTVs, letting us show off our wonderful coaches.
As usual, we had two catered dinners and a light breakfast right at the campsite. We chatted about the upcoming convention, our “home,” LTV Travelers Clubs, and shared miscellaneous experiences we’ve had in our travels. Existing friendships were renewed and new ones created.
Once the Convention got underway, we scattered in different directions, heading to various educational seminars, craft classes, chapter meetings, paid and volunteer entertainment, vendor displays, and food venues. Every night we could attend paid regional entertainers, while during free morning coffee and doughnuts, the Frustrated Maestros Chapter played.
An ice cream social and ladies’ luncheon rounded out the on-site activities, and the quilts were donated to children in foster care.
One evening, we took buses to downtown Sedalia to dine out and attend Sedalia’s FIFA World Cup watch party. But the highlight was the FRVA Fourth of July Picnic—a dunking booth to raise money for a local charity, organized games in the afternoon, hot dogs, grilled corn on the cob in husks, baked beans, and watermelon were served in the early evening, and a paid entertainer sang on stage under a huge tent! Then, as darkness fell, we had a perfect view of Sedalia’s incredible Fireworks!
