43 coaches carrying 80 hearty campers braved the rainy forecast from April 30 to May 3 at Lakewood Camping Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Ten of our attendees were with us for the first time!
Lakewood Camping Resort was a great facility for our rally, right on the beach. We all enjoyed renewing acquaintances and meeting new LTV’ers on Thursday evening, followed by an ice cream social.
Breakfast each morning was a grand spread of delicious items from all the participants.
Friday morning, the ladies all bundled up and attended a session with former president Victoria on hookups. They all came away with more understanding of what the guys do while they are putting things together on the inside.
The afternoon started off with the forever-popular Q&A sessions on the Mercedes and Ford chassis. We all came away with a little better understanding of our coaches.
On Friday afternoon, we were very pleased to have Melissa Bartlett speak to the group about her experiences traveling to and around Alaska. Her photos and experience with the vast territory made it feel a little more doable for those who have not yet experienced it. She also did a wonderful presentation on her travels through the Canadian Maritimes and some sites not to be missed.
On Saturday morning, we had the pleasure of listening to the travel adventures of Steve Mega, who, along with his dog Kona, has traveled the USA in their LTV. He has only a handful of national parks to go to complete the mission. He also provided many tools that he uses to make traveling a little easier.
Another popular session was the Q&A on our LTV homes away from home. We did our best to answer the questions that were put before us or enlist the help of our audience. We had planned to hold an open house for the group to learn a little about some of the many upgrades our members have made to their rolling palaces, but the rains had left a little too much to avoid, so we will put that off till another time.
By Sunday morning, the skies cleared and the temperatures began to rise, providing us with a great travel day home or to other adventures. We look forward to seeing everyone again at our fall rally in Savannah, Georgia, to be announced soon.
